The Fantastic Palm Island In The Grenadines

March 4th, 2010
The Fantastic Palm Island welcomed us with open arms, and we are so glad we chose it for our vacation.

Everything about it seemed to us to be special. What a fantastic place, especially if it is peace and quiet you are after. It is a secluded, private, hassle free resort, with a great beach, and palm trees set by a turquoise sea. If you don’t like the beach, then don’t go as the pool is on the small side, although to be fair, uncrowded due to the sheer lack of people!!

Our arrival set the scene for our vacation, as we were met on the jetty by four members of staff, including the manager, given cocktails, escorted to our room which was all very impressive. We were impressed by the staff, from the attention to detail in the room, to the way most members of staff greeted us by name - a small thing that makes a difference.

If you are going to Palm Island you must understand this is not the place to go if you want to be waited on hand and foot. It is not a five star, terribly smart, full 24 hour service, busy busy, need to be seen type of place.

I can list what Palm Island is outstanding for very easily, I’ve already mentioned a few of them.

If you want peace and quiet, no crowds at all, so you can unwind and relax properly. Perhaps you want to be able to roam about without restrictions either walking, jogging, or cycling, and be able to view wild life like iguanas, turtles, even humming birds.

Perhaps snorkelling is a priority, being able to easily reach world class reefs like the Tobago Cays, or you are a beach bum and like nothing better than feeling you are Robinson Crusoe on your own private island.

Maybe there comes a time on your vacation when you want to socialise with your fellow guests in a nice bar, and the interaction with the bar staff is important to your vacation, then for all these reasons Palm Island is ideal

Whilst accommodation and Food play a large part in any vacation, somehow their importance on Palm Island is secondary to the ‘holiday lifestyle’ you get on Palm Island. It’s not that they aren’t of high quality because the food is terrific especially in the evenings, with a different menu every night, and the rooms are lovely although air conditioning might be aproblem, somehow they take second place to all the other plusses.

Palm Island is definitely worth visiting.

Who Is Your Favorite Super Hero?

Magnanimously Untitled Article Vol. 4

March 2nd, 2010
Hello everybody and welcome back. It’s been a while, but I’ve been busy. However I am back now so you can rest easy. Just a heads up this batch of random thoughts is gonna be ROH heavy since I’ve been watching all their HDNet shows on you tube, and I haven’t been able to have too many thoughts about them in the past. Also I will have the next round in the Jim Johnston Cup, and maybe another HOF inductee. So let’s kick this pig.

First things first if anyone is wondering, the channel on you tube that has all of the ROH shows is ROHBrazil.

I can’t believe they are making me wait till May 2nd for me to get my Roderick Strong fix. However, I have thoroughly enjoyed the likes of Brent Albright and Erik Stevens as well.

I like the new Superstars show WWE has. I like the way it’s presented, and I think the theme song rocks. Plus they devote more time to actually wrestling other than just promo work. That allows better matches, and it brings back exhibition matches where two wrestlers with no storyline involvement with each other can tangle just to put on a good match.

I found out why I was initially attracted to the ROH product. It’s their ring; it looks like there’s a trampoline in the middle. That big black square with the ROH logo reminds me of a trampoline.

I figured out why people are calling Bryan Danielson the best in the world. See, before I had only seen him clean shaven with a shaved head. But I noticed that since he’s grown his hair out, and grown a beard he looks a lot like…Chuck Norris. That’s why he’s the best in the world.

I hate that the first ROH title change since getting a TV deal took place off of ROH television.

Claudio Castagnoli cracks me up. Bein all European and what not.

I like this Kenny Omega guy, he just seems cool.

So I recently heard that Jeff might not renew his contract, but I’m not really buying that.

Well, Mick Foley is a World Champion again, and a hell…maybe, I don’t know for sure. Oh, well. In a week of holding the title he’s already been a better champion than I thought he would be. I just hope he loses it at Sacrifice.

Trevor Murdoch is in TNA now with a cowboy name. Actually, I like it.

I heard amazing Red teams with Suicide in the next TNA episode. I’m glad, I’ve heard a lot about him, but I’ve never been able to see him wrestle. I’m looking forward to it.

An early prediction for the 2010 Royal Rumble…CM Punk. I’m not saying I hope he wins it, and I’m sure I’ll change it by that time.

I was going to do some Backlash predictions, but I didn’t get this in in time so I’ll just go over it quickly.

First off I liked The Steamboat/Jericho match. It was a good match, and it gave Jericho a reason to be on PPV. Steamboat is still pretty good, and he doesn’t seem afraid to do any of his old highflying stuff. Still has the best arm drag in the game.

I missed the first ten minutes of Swagger vs. Christian due to stream problems. What I did see was pretty good. I was expecting Swagger to hold onto the belt for a little longer though. Maybe have an actual feud that built up to Christian winning, but oh well. I liked the ending. Swagger still looks strong, and Christian still looks like Christian.

Punk vs. Kane was a very good match I thought. My only complaint is that I think they made Punk look a little to strong by dominating Kane most of the match. Of course it’s my belief they are currently trying to build up Punk, and he dominated Kane intelligently through out the match so it’s okay. And Kane walked away with the win so it’s all good.

I was honestly disappointed in the I Quit match. My night wasn’t ruined by it by any means, but I know they can do better. I think they need to give them more time. It was a good match though. Mainly spots from Jeff, with brawling from Matthew. I just wish they had done more. There wasn’t a lot of weapons usage. The tying Matt to a table thing was great though. Never seen that before. I figured he was gonna quit before Jeff jumped, but it was all good anyways. I’m wondering if they’re gonna do a Cowboy Bob Orton thing with Matt and his brand new cast.

I wish Orton hadn’t won the title in this match. It just takes away form the reign of it if you ask me. However if it keeps setting up things like him vs. MVP I’ll gladly let it slide. And Triple H is gonna be out for a while, so we can have others rise up to the top of Raw now. The match itself was okay. I liked how Orton won with the punt.

The Last Man Standing match was probably the best match of the night. They made Cena look like Superman, but they did the same thing with Edge. He got up from a super F-U. I thought the match was over then. When he did get up though, I knew the match was gonna be an ass kicker. My only two complaints are that Cena got up from a con chair to on the ramp, and the cheesy explosion when he went through the spotlight. That, by the way, was an awesome ending. I just wish the reign had lasted longer.

I would like to take just a moment to thank everyone who proved that The Vince was the Hulk Hogan of these articles, and I was the Ric Flair. He was pretty popular for a long time, but whose legacy is living on? Mine. And I’ve got you people to thank for it. Taking off the Morpher, and ditching the giant robot, and that whole persona probably helped too, but hey.

Looking forward to my new ROH episode. I can finally give my input into conversations about the promotion now.

I’ll admit, Danielson is very very good. But he’s got a hell of a ways to go before he can call himself the best in the world. I believe if he tries he can do it though.

I get annoyed at people who call Bryan Danielson American Dragon. Not the people that call The American Dragon Bryan Danielson, or Bryan Danielson The American Dragon. Just American Dragon. I know that was his ring name for a while in Japan, but get over it. He’s Bryan Danielson. When they call him just American Dragon all the time it makes them sound like they are trying to be real smarky.

I’m still itching to see Roderick Strong on the ROH show.

Me and friends are finally able to wrestle again. I’ve got a little make shift ring in four door garage. Hopefully we can wrestle at the YMCA soon again. We’re Next Generation Wrestling by the way. No champs yet, we’re still getting off the ground.

So is like Santino face now or what? I’m getting tired of this tranny.

Did you guys know that Dr. Death Steve Williams had throat cancer, and he has to talk with like something called a stoma. He’s getting a little voice box or something. Anyway Wrestler Rescue or whatever it’s called is taking donations to help pay for it. You can check out a link on the message boards at www.harleyrace.com

Kofi for champ!

The only reason I’m writing this last one is because I need to meet some ridiculous word requirement. My God you can make an article as long you want that doesn’t make it good, why can’t people get that through their heads. Anyway, I like that Jericho is on SmackDown. He’s going to do very well over there.

Well that’s my analysis. I suppose it’s time for the Jim Johnston Cup.

Here are the results. Edge’s Metalingus beat out The Game by 9-5. Shawn kicked The Chairman of the Boards teeth out 10-4. The Rock got bit by the Rattlesnake 9-5. Now this one is interesting. Real American, and R.I.P. tied with 7. In the event of a tie I cast my vote. And there is no denying that Undertaker is the better wrestler. As far as themes go though none beat Hogan. Therefore Hulkamania lives 8-7. So next rounds match ups are as follows:

Edge (Metalingus) vs. Shawn Michaels (Sexy Boy)

Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Hulk Hogan (Real American)

Hey didn’t I just do that last one?

That’s all for this week folks. Peace, Love, and Candy

The Ironman Marathon

February 26th, 2010
As you start out on the ironman-marathon you will most likely experience several different emotions.

I used to find it very difficult at times to convince myself to leave the run-transition area. After a long hard bike it often feels that finishing the marathon distance would be next to impossible. It is at this point in the race that your determination and reslove may truly be tested. This is where the term “ironman” begins to have meaning.

Remember that you are not alone in feeling this. There are hundreds of first time Ironman hopefuls dealing with the same emotions. Keep in mind that you had an intelligent swim and conserved energy for this point in the race.

One thing I learned over the years is how much our bodies can withstand and just how much we are capable of if we dare to try. Often our spirit is conquered long before our physical energy is used up.

A good example is my last ironman. At almost exactly the half-way point in the bike I had a bad crash. I lost focus for just a few seconds and slipped off the shoulder of the road. When I tried to recover the bike went over and I hit the road very hard. The last half of the bike was fairly difficult. As I sat in the run-transition tent my shoulder was extremely sore and it was only my experience that I knew my body could withstand quite a lot if I gave it a chance.

I was at the stage in my career where I felt that Ironman could well be my last and I didn’t want to end my career by dropping out of the race.

The marathon took me 5 hours and 5 minutes. The Ironman took me 14 hours and 15 minutes. I found out later that I had a separated shoulder. I sort of had a feeling that was the case but then I reasoned that I wasn’t running on my hands so it would work out.

I’m telling you this story because when you get at this point in the race you just have to realilze that no matter how sore and tired you feel, the ability your body has to recover will amaze you if you give it a chance.

As soon as you cross that start mat and your timer beeps do your best to run. At first your stride will be very short and unnatural, but as your legs adjust to the demands of running you will begin to feel and run better. Run for as long as you can without stopping. You want to get some kilometers behind you. When and if you just ‘have’ to walk try and walk the aid stations and run in between as much as you can. When you do walk try and walk at a fast pace.

Hopefully you practiced this in your training as I suggested in the run-training page. It makes a huge difference if you go into the Ironman with a flexible race plan.

Be very careful at the aid stations when it comes to choosing your food and drink. The urge is to try some of everything as you try and find the secret that will make you feel less sore and tired and possibly boost your energy. Many athletes have gotten sick during the ironman-marathon from making this mistake.

Really try not to mix your food and drink choices. I would suggest avoiding coke and pepsi until the last 6 or 7 miles. Remember that if you do start drinking it, then you should drink it at ‘every’ aid station or else you risk really upsetting your sugar balance.

One year I drank nothing but water at every station and didn’t eat at all. I felt good and didn’t want to mess with it. My ironman-marathon time was 3 hours 34 minutes. So I think that goes to show you don’t necessarily have to fill your body with grapes, bananas, cookies, and whatever else you have to choose from. Just go with what works for you at the time.

Try and make a point of not walking the downhills. I have seen many people do this and I could never understand it. You should take advantage of gravity every chance you get. Just like on the bike. If you plan on walking the uphills then be sure to run the downhills. Do everything you can to get those kilometers behind you without using up too much energy too soon.

Take heart in the fact that there are hundreds of you out there sharing the same dream. To finish the race. It is truly a beautiful thing when you see so many so determined to reach a common goal.

You may find it helpful to run with someone along the way. Be careful however. They may deviate quite a bit from what you have been doing and throw off your race plan. Sometimes its best to run on your own until you are CERTAIN you are hooking up with the right person.

Its always an uplifting moment when you make the final outward leg and turn for home for the last time. Now each kilometer that passes you feel a lift in your spirit.

In the final 6 or 7 kilometers you will most likely discover that you have an amazing amount of energy left. This happens over and over in the Ironman-marathon. For some reason, some sort of physical change takes place and many people have a sustained burst of energy.

You will also be lifted by an increasing number of spectators as you get nearer and nearer to the finish. Soon dozens turn to hundreds and you hear that amazing, welcome sound of the finish line announcer. This is when it will really hit home that you are really going to do it! You are going to be an Ironman!

Be sure to take it all in, because this moment will be etched in your memory forever. No matter how many Ironman races you do, this is one you will never forget.

Ironman Langkawi-Malaysia-About The Race.

February 26th, 2010
Ironman Langkawi-Malaysia is soon to take place in the idealic setting of Kuah town. The race is to go ahead as scheduled on February 26, 2006 and there are still openings for those of you looking for a race in the very near future.

The langkawi-Malaysia Ironman first took place in the year 2000 and has since become the favorite of many athletes from around the world.

The swim is a 3.8 km swim in the tranquil waters of the Kuah town Jetty.

The bike is a 2 and one half loop course that takes place on the coastal roads of Langkawi island. The course itself is hilly and undulating

The marathon consists of two 21.1 km. loops on a course that is generally flat but with gradual climbs at the 4-10 and 24-30 km. marks.

From all reports Ironman Langkawi-Malaysia is well organized and supported with great enthusiasm by the local population.

One thing to be aware of and possibly train for is the heat which can be anywhere from 28-35 degrees C. Also, it is a very humid heat and reminds me quite a lot of what one might experience in the Hawaii Ironman in Kona.

Pros will be competing for prize money and age groupers will have the opportunity to qualify for the world championships in Hawaii as there will be spots available for age group qualifiers.

Accomodation prices look very reasonable. Several of the major hotels in Langkawi are just minutes from the race start. However, expect to pay quite a lot for the return flight from North America with gateways from Los Angeles and New York. There is no ferry necessary from the mainland to Langkawi island as they now have their own international airport.

This seems to be a terrific holiday destination for those looking for a more “exotic” Ironman venue and comes highly recommended by those who have competed there in the past. Athletes from 17 countries are expected for the 2006 edition of this Ironnam.

For those looking for a last minute race, it appears that entries will be available until mid-February. If not this year, then possibly it might be an ideal race to consider for 2007. Take the whole family and make a holiday of this beautiful Ironman destination. What an opportunity to visit the “other” side of the world.

Any information you might need can be found on their website@LangkawiIronman.com

Cannondale Ironman and Cannondale. 7 More Useful Tips

Here are 7 tips about cannondale.

It always fascinates me that you can always find something new about a topic if you look hard enough, and these 7 tips are useful reminders - especially where cannondale ironman is concerned.

It’s always worth digging a little deeper for cannondale resources online as there is a lot of great stuff out there.

Tip #1

Mountain bikes are the most rugged type of bicycle. They were made to be cycled on mountains, steep inclines and the roughest of terrains. Very rarely will a mountain bike rider cycle on a paved road. The majority of mountain bike riders love cycling on narrow and unpaved trails resulting in greater wear and tear and forcing the manufacturers to have to design sturdier bicycles.

Tip #2

If you do any type of night riding, it would be wise to invest in a quality headlight. I learned not to go too cheap on a bicycle light because the cheaper models barely light up enough for you to see what is ahead of you. A good high beam bicycle light will provide tons of light to see the road ahead as well as alert any oncoming traffic. The better quality lights usually require a battery pack that are rechargeable. The same goes for having a back light. These are not as expensive but are a good idea to have as the more light you have the less chance of cars not seeing you.

Tip #3

To determine whether you need a tube and a tire, or new inner tube only, you will need to take a serious look at the inside of the bicycle tire. If the inside of the tire looks fine, showing no signs of a puncture or rough area, then you will only need to invest in an inner tube.

Tip #4

Different types of bicycles call for different types of bicycle tires. To ensure that you get the best performance, make sure that you get the one that’s compatible for yours.

Tip #5

Making the decision to buy a cannondale ironman bicycle is easy for most people. Bikes are practical and fun. Knowing which bicycle is the right one for you can pose more of a challenge. To ensure a smooth and fun experience when buying your first bicycle, I’ve comprised some guidelines to use to help you on your way.

Tip #6

You don’t have anything more than custom-built bicycle. It comes with the exact height, exact weight with the correct components and gives you the correct feeling. The components of the bicycle can be bought separately and then combined together for the bike or even have a custom built bicycle for you. However, the latter would cost much as every component would be a custom-made. The amount of satisfaction would be immense and you would just love your bike riding.

Tip #7

There is no better way to spend a weekend than to go on a leisurely ride on a cannondale ironman bicycle on a quiet track in the woods. Bicycles have an old world charm about them and even in this fast-paced world has its own prominent place. Of all the parts of the bicycle, it is the bicycle wheels which are the most important ones. Bicycle wheels are the ones which carry the entire burden on them and thus need to be very carefully observed.

7 hints and tips about cannondale are more than enough, don’t you think?

Don’t forget to look for further tips from me - especially about cannondale ironman and other similar topics. Once you start looking for them, you can’t help but find them!

Former ‘lost’ Castaway Monaghan Joins Cast of ‘wolverine’

February 18th, 2010
The old adage “when one door gets closed, another opens” has proven to be true for Dominic Monaghan. His character Charlie Pace had been killed off on the finale of the serial drama series Lost but he gained another role recently. 20th Century Fox signed him to play the role of Barnell Bohusk, a.k.a. He joins an impressive star-studded ensemble that includes Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Liev Schreiber (Sabretooth), Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool), Taylor Kitsch (Gambit), Will.i.am (Kestrel), Danny Huston (William Stryker), and Lynn Collins (Silver Fox).

Beak is a human who morphed into a humanoid-bird form. He has a beak, his eyes are bulgy, and his arms are wing-like. He wears a high-tech body suit that allows him to fly, gives him superhuman strength, produces energy blasts and serves as his protective shield. Feeling disgusted and ashamed at his own appearance, he sought solitude. He ran away from his family and went into hiding.

Monaghan is famous for his role as Merry in the film adaptation of the Lord of the Rings series. In England , he was well-recognized for his role as Geoffrey Shawcross on the British crime series Hetty Wainthropp Investigates. Internet Users Beware! Senior Silver Surfers and Baby Boomers Are Coming

February 17th, 2010
Did you know that the quickest growing users of the Internet are the over 65’s, with almost 7 million seniors going online in the US alone. Initially however its thought that most seniors are hesitant, even worried about keeping up with new technologies and the latest crazes. When however they realise the Internet is here to stay and the new possibilities it brings to their lives most forward thinking pensioners are eager to embrace the Web like an old friend.

Perhaps more surprisingly is that seniors are using the Internet more eagerly than younger generations. This stands to reason when you consider how much spare time pensioners have, and what they actually use the Internet for. It is thought that seniors use email just as much as any other age group to keep in touch with family and friends. The possibility to communicate and send pictures all over the world within seconds is simply mind blowing. Especially when you consider not so long ago the only form of communication apart from the telephone was to write a letter. Chat rooms, news, weather, finance, recipe and hobby sites are also extremely popular with seniors.

It’s believed that younger generations play a huge hand in convincing seniors to go online in the first place. Grandchildren, sons and daughters are thought to introduce seniors to the Internet, and once shown the basics are fast becoming self sufficient and experienced silver surfers in there own right.

This can only be a good thing as greater numbers of seniors become computer and Internet savvy. With software becoming ever easier to install, and computers more intuitive than ever, it’s only a matter of time before more and more pensioners become wired. With this in mind there has been an increase in specifically designed Websites dedicated to the over 50’s and senior communities. These Websites have been silently creeping up over the Internet for some time, and offer seniors a place to chat, make new friends, and discuss anything relating to senior living.

Booked Tickets for the Middle East “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” Screening yet?

February 10th, 2010
Theatres in the Middle East are abuzz with bookings for the latest installment in the X-Men series, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the fourth film in the popular X-Men movie franchise.

The film is to premier on April 30, 2009 in theatres in Jordan, UAE, Lebanon, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman. Bookings have already opened and seats are filling up quickly as Wolverine and superhero movie buffs in the Middle East gear up for an X-Men treat.

From the tense opening scenes in a prison to the impossible-looking action and tender romance scenes later in the movie, Wolverine is expected to keep fans of the X-Men series gripped.

Unlike the other X-Men movies, Wolverine does not really require you to watch the previous movies to catch the drift. The movie is set nearly 20 years before Wolverine rescues the young mutant Rogue in the first X-Men movie and meets Professor X. It has been filmed as a prequel of sorts.

Fans of X-Men Origins: Wolverine in the Middle East will appreciate Gavin Hood’s direction and find the Logan they have come to marvel over and rave about to be the same as he was in the previous three movies- arrogantly aggressive.

Hugh, for his part quite enjoyed exploring the darker side of Logan. The character of Wolverine as pictured in the earlier three movies has always had to deal with faint remnants of a murky past, magnified by his amnesia. X-Men Origins: Wolverine tries to tell the audience about this troubled past of Logan aka Wolverine.

Book your tickets with the Middle East website for the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie to get to know your favorite X-Man better, today!

Comic Books Inspire Film Makers

February 7th, 2010
Hollywood film makers are looking for inspiration for their box office hits from comic books. It has become a recent trend to recreate the action found on the pages of a comic book onto a theatre screen. We all love the onomatopoeias that bring the action to life as we read through our favorite http://www.mycomicshop.com”>comic books. POW, THUMP, AARGH, KA-BOOM! However, the excitement is moved up a notch as you sit in a theatre with surround sound and a huge movie screen watching the bad guy suffer from an explosion and hearing the loud banging from the explosion.

In 2009, there are eight movies to be released that are about characters from comics such as Wolverine, Dragonball, Transformers, and Astro Boy just to name a few. In the past three years or so, some more recognizable movies were made about comic book heroes such as Spiderman, Batman, Superman, and who could forget Heath Ledger’s appearance as a villain in The Dark Knight. Comic book movies are some of the highest grossing films in Hollywood. The Dark Knight is the highest grossing film coming in at over one billion dollars, $1,001,921,825 to be exact. This movie was comparable, profit wise, to Titanic, The Lord of the Rings, and Pirates of the Caribbean. The second biggest gross opening day was when Spiderman 3 was released. Opening day for the film acquired close to $60 million. The total gross profit was $890,871,626. Even looking back as far as twelve years ago, Men in Black was released in 1997 and made $589,390,539.

Not only do comic book movies make a lot of money, they can positively affect, change, or launch an actor’s career into stardom. Heath Ledger was incredible in the Dark Knight as the Joker character. He had what producers call the chill factor, where you get goose bumps from watching him act, and won an Oscar, a Golden Globe, the Screen Actors Guild award, and a Bafta. Critics have been known to say that this role was career defining for him. Will Smith was proven to be a force in the film industry after his role in Men in Black. He became a leading man in Hollywood and starred in other box office hits such as Independence Day. He also starred in another comic book movie, Hancock. Robert Downey Jr’s career was brought back to life after he starred as Tony Stark in Ironman.
